Salt has started in customs and beliefs throughout history. For one it seems to play an important role in marriages across different societies. For instance in one Hindu marriage ritual, as a new bride enters her new home she takes a hand full of salt and puts it in the groom’s hand. He then passes it back , without spilling a single grain. This is done thrice, it symbolises that like salt blends seamlessly into food, the new bride will also blend into her new family and home.
